How Solar PV works
Solar photovoltaics, often known as PV, contain silicone cells that produce electrons when exposed to sunlight.
The Direct Current (DC) electricity solar panels produce needs to be converted to Alternating Current (AC) before it can be used in your home. This is achieved through a solar inverter, such as Solaredge.
Solar PV panels will generate more energy in direct light and periods where there are longer hours of Sunlight available i.e. in Summer.
Solar energy systems can be easily incorporated into your homes electrical system to power appliances, heat your water and even charge your electric car.
If you install a system before March 2019 you will not only benefit on savings on your energy bill, but also get paid a government feed in tariff (FIT) for all you generate and sell any excess energy exported back to the national grid.
