Chester Community Energy

Transition Chester are a community run group in Chester who have developed a group project into Chester Community Energy Limited and registered as a Community Benefit Society.

In the director’s own words:

Chester Community Energy Ltd was formed by a group of six Chester Transition members in 2015. They have been working hard over the last eighteen months to realise the first community energy project in the Chester area, a solar panel installation on the roof of the Northgate Arena leisure centre. This will provide solar panels on an otherwise unused roof, selling energy to the leisure centre and creating a surplus that is returned as interest to the members of Chester Community Energy Ltd and for further investment in community projects

The Site – Northgate Arena

Northgate Arena is a large and well used facility in Chester which has a high energy demand with ample roof space, this makes for an excellent site for a community project.
