Solar Thermal Installation
GenFIT solar thermal systems typically take 1-2 days to install.
The solar collectors can be mounted on/in a pitched roof, on a flat roof or at ground level. Panels can even be mounted on a South-facing wall.
Highly insulated pipes are then routed from the collector(s) to either the existing, or new, hot water cylinder. Cold water from the bottom of the insulated hot water cylinder is then pumped thorough the solar collector where it is heated before flowing into the top of the hot water store. PV powered pumps are available with some GenFIT solar thermal systems.
Some combi boilers, which can accept pre-heated water, can also be used in conjunction with a solar water heating system.
Commercial solar thermal systems comprise a thermal store that preheats the cold water supply to an existing, or new, hot water system. Thermal stores minimize the stored water which goes to the taps making them ideal solutions for sites with large volumes of hot water consumption such as schools, care homes or hotels.
